Abstract

This paper presents a study of different power filter topologies used to compensate the customer-generated disturbances caused by a non-linear load connected at the point of common coupling (PCC). The advantages and drawbacks of each topology are analyzed and an evaluation is performed by means of computer simulation under different conditions. The rating of the equipment and the THD in the source current have been carried out for comparison purposes. Finally, it is proposed a criterion for the selection of the most appropriate topology depending on the type of harmonic-producing load.
