Abstract

In recent year, the generating power from renewableenergy sources is coming up. Particularly, wind energy conversionsystems is at tractive becau se of it's advant ages such as , pollutionfree, no fuel cost, ab undantly available in natu re etc,However, thegenerated power and the bus voltage is always fuctuating and itmainly depends on the wind speed,A su perconducting m agneticenergy storage(SMES] unit is capable of controlling both the ac-tive and reactive po wer simultaneously and quickly. In this paper.contro! scheme for active and reactive output power simultan eouscontrol and voltage cont rol of t he series an d parallel com pensat orusing SMES is proposed. It is show through sim ulations, that thecontrolling sequence of charging and disch argin g of the SMES coileffectively damps out the transm ission line power oscillation an dwTG's termin al bus yoltage fuctuations.
