This paper presents an energy man-agement system (EMS) especially for offshore windfarms. The main idea of the EMS is to reduce theimpact of wind energy on the system. Therefore apower schedule to reduce the fluctuating impact onthe power system is developed. This power scheduleafford as well an optimisation for the maintenanceof the windmills. The maintenance interval optimi-sation is therefore also included in the EMS. TheEMS has also the function to shutdown the windfarms in case of to much wind. It is obvious thata well-organised procedure for reducing the infeedpower into the high-voltage system is required. Thetransmission system operator (TSO) is informed inadvance about the power schedule and about theshutdown schedule. The main objective of the TSOis to minimize the impact on the power quality. Forthat he has to organize sufficient regulating power.
