A Optimization Technique of Hydrothermal Systems Using Calculus of Variations.

Abstract

This paper falls within the scope of studiesconcerning the optimization of the functioning of systemswith renewable energy (hydro energy). We have developeda theory that is extraordinarily simpler than previous oneswhich resolves the problem of minimization of a functionalof the type.

In particular, we have established a necessary condition forthe stationary functions of the functional. The method al-lows for elaboration of the optimization algorithm whichprovides us with the optimal regime of functioning of theentire hydrothermal system. Finally, we present a exam-ple, employing the algorithm realized with the "Mathe-matica" package to this end.
