In this paper, modeling and simulation of a grid connectedvariable speed wind energy conversion system (VSWECS) withlow cost power converters is presented. The systern consists ofa permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG), two pulsewidth modulated B-4 power converters and a maximum powerpoint tracker (MPPT). Mathematical model of each element ofthe system is developed separately and then they are integratedto simulate the whole system for various wind velocities. ThecompletesystemhasbeensimulatedusingMATLAB/SIMULINK and simulation results are presented.
